Cindy Chau, Arts
Back-lit print in lightbox
My artwork explores portraiture and the body through staged photoshoots and nude portraiture. My work explores the notions of transferring sensations through images imitating the human gaze, capturing the essence of film and using the physical form to convey emotional states. Throughout my work, I tend to draw on lighting to convey moods. I combine my interdisciplinary knowledge of photography and installation to create my photo series. To stray away from the traditional photo print, the presentation of my works often represents my exploration in various large-scale installation techniques that further elevate and compliment the content in the photographs. My artistic influences include Yung Cheng Lin, Brooke DiDonato and Jesse Herzog. Constant experimentation and research through photographs, will reflect in my works as I continue to build my artistic practice.
